McGregor pulled off some magnificent saves to deny Villarreal on Thursday night.

Allan McGregor of Rangers gestures during the UEFA Europa League Group G match between Rangers and Villarreal CF at Ibrox Stadium on November 29, 2018 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Livingston goalkeeper Liam Kelly has reacted on Twitter to Allan McGregor’s impeccable Rangers performance against Villarreal on Thursday night, by joking about the Scotland goalkeeper’s quality.

The 36-year-old starred between the sticks for Steven Gerrard’s side as he pulled off a number of one-on-one saves to deny the Spanish outfit. Rangers defied the odds to draw 0-0, despite going down to 10 men in the first half.

McGregor pulled off save after save, including a one-handed effort that saw him claw away Karl Toko Ekambi’s effort when the speed machine was put through on goal by a bad Rangers pass.

Kelly, who left Rangers to join newly-promoted Livingston in the summer after the Gers had brought McGregor back to Ibrox, reacted on Twitter to the veteran’s display, joking that McGregor makes it look easy.

The draw sees Rangers remain in third place in Group G of the Europa League, but they still have a decent chance of qualifying for the knockout phase. Villarreal are in first on seven, joint with Rapid Vienna who are in second. Spartak Moscow are last, but only by a point.

Since returning to Ibrox, McGregor has made 25 appearances in all competitions and conceded just 20 goals – helping Rangers to 11 clean sheets under Gerrard. He is likely to start against Hearts on Sunday at Tynecastle.
