Celtic and Rangers are bitter rivals, but that does not stop Liam Henderson from getting advice from Kevin Thomson.

Henderson, who is 20 years of age and operates as a midfielder, played with Thomson at Hibernian.

The Scotland Under-21 international was on loan at the Scottish Championship club from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic last season.

The young midfielder has revealed that he still takes advice from 32-year-old former Rangers midfielder Thomson.

“I’m one of those people who really think about where they want to go,” Henderson told The Daily Record. “And last year I was fortunate to have Kevin as my room-mate at Hibs.

“He played for the other team in Glasgow and got to a UEFA Cup Final. He has been a huge influence on me.

“He spoke to me about coming back to Celtic after my loan. He knows it’s a
massive club and said I should stay here.

“He just said ‘You feel as though you should be playing so that’s a great start’. That was good advice to get at my age.”

“Thommo has been unbelievable,” added Henderson. “I can pick up the phone to speak to him whenever I want.”

Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment 73 points from 25 matches.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are 24 points clear at the top of the standings and are running away with the league title.

Rangers, who won automatic promotion from the Scottish Championship at the end of the 2015-16 season, are currently third in the table with 43 points from 25 games.

Celtic will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Hamilton Academical at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.

Meanwhile, Rangers will face Inverness Caledonian Thistle away from home in the Scottish Premiership on Friday evening.
