Liam Henderson has reacted on Twitter after his younger brother Ewan completed a move from Celtic to Hibernian. The midfielder has initially moved to Easter Road on loan, before a three-year deal in the summer.

Henderson, 21, was used just once by Ange Postecoglou this season despite clocking up 10 previous appearances for Celtic. In that one outing, he scored in a 3-2 Europa League victory over Real Betis – but he has left.

Indeed, Shaun Maloney has used his Celtic connections to swoop. The new Hibs boss has landed the Scotland Under-21 star on an initial loan deal until the summer. He will then pen a contract at Easter Road until 2025.

Of course, elder brother Liam clocked up 37 Celtic appearances – and 48 during a loan spell at Hibs, where he had a hand in 22 goals. Now playing for Italian side Empoli, Henderson reacted to his brother’s move.

Henderson reacts to Celtic exit: Hibernian perfect for Ewan

It was simply not happening for Henderson at Celtic. Postecoglou has brought through numerous young players this season, Adam Montgomery the first name that springs to mind. Henderson was often overlooked.

He did make the bench on five other occasions for Celtic, only playing in the one game against Betis – which was a dead rubber. He needed to move to further his career and Hibs is an excellent transfer for the playmaker.

If he can have a similar effect to his brother’s loan spell in 2014-15, then he will shine for Hibs. He has the perfect gaffer in place to do so, with Maloney of course an attacking midfielder during his career.
