Leeds United may be forced into a defensive change.
Leeds United’s back-line has looked considerably better with Pontus Jansson partnering Kyle Bartley, which makes it all the more worrying that the former could be set for a stint on the side-lines after coming off injured against Bristol City.
The Swedish defender was taken off at half-time on Tuesday evening with a hamstring injury, and while there is no official confirmation on the severity of the issue, Leeds fans will be keeping their fingers crossed it is only minor.
Jansson’s importance to the side was clear almost as soon as he left the field, with his replacement Liam Cooper looking shaky and Bartley losing the composure he has when he plays alongside his fellow loanee.
Cooper had to make do with a place on the bench for three of Leeds’ four Championship wins so far this season, and some fans feel he is not up to it in terms of defensive quality.
All players will have their doubters, but Cooper will know how important it is to prove his wrong in the face of Jansson’s undeniable quality.
If the latter is ruled out for a couple of games, Cooper must up his game and seize the opportunity, because Leeds have some very winnable matches coming up if they play anywhere near their best.
