Leeds United defender reflects on defeat.
Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has spoken out after the club’s defeat to QPR.
The centre back was part of the Leeds side which lost 1-0 at Loftus Road.
The Whites could not take their chances and were punished by a Luke Freeman goal, from which they could not recover.
Cooper spoke emotionally to Leeds’ official website after the loss.
He said the team were gutted, and would try to pick themselves up and put it right in their next match, against West Bromwich Albion on Friday.
Asked about the feeling in the dressing room, Cooper said: “(We are) bitterly disappointed. It was a great chance for us.
“We’ve let ourselves down.
“We can’t get down too much as games come thick and fast and we a have massive game Friday under the lights. We’ve got to go again, and work hard.
“There’s still a confidence in the dressing room, we know it’s in our hands, we are more than capable of winning Friday and putting it right.”
Leeds could have gone top of the table with a win, and instead sit in third place.
Losing to West Brom would see fourth placed Baggies close to be within just one point of Leeds, and give Norwich and Sheffield United impetus to pull away further.
Manager Marcelo Bielsa needs to lift his crestfallen players and get the team back on track.
