Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has taken to social networking site Twitter to send a passionate message to the fans, but it has backfired.

Cooper has thanked the fans following Leeds’s 2-0 win against Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The 26-year-old central defender – who cost the Whites £500,000 in transfer fees when they signed him from Chesterfield in the summer of 2014 according to The Express – has thanked the Elland Road faithful for their support throughout the season.

It is quite a passionate and heartfelt message from Cooper, and although he did receive quite a few positive responses, a number of Leeds fans hit back, complaining that he has not been good enough, as the following tweets show.

Leeds started the 2017-18 Championship campaign hoping to finish in the top six, and for a period of time, it did look like that they could clinch a playoff spot.

However, since the turn of the year, the West Yorkshire ought failed to produce strong performances, and their results were hugely disappointing.

The Whites will be hoping to have a better season in 2018-19 and finish in the Championship playoffs.
