The Spanish playmaker has been a revelation at Elland Road this season.
Samu Saiz of Leeds United(C)
Leeds United welcomed back Spanish attacker Samuel Saiz for the 2-2 draw with Derby County in midweek. After serving a six-game suspension for spitting at an opponent in the FA Cup exit at Newport County, the little magician deserved his punishment. Leeds thoroughly missed the summer signing, who has been a revelation at Elland Road this campaign.
Leeds United defender Liam Cooper is certainly of that belief. The centre-back lauded the potential of the Spanish talent to the Yorkshire Evening Post this week, stating:
“We know what the little man can do.
“He’s unbelievable with the ball and he gives that drive forward. Defences are terrified of him and you can see that when he drives at people. He’s a big lift for us.”
Saiz came on from the bench against Derby in the week, assisting Ezgjan Alioski for his goal, and looked like he had never been away with an outstanding impact performance.
Liam Cooper of Leeds United
There is no doubt he has been terrifying defenders this campaign. He has scored nine goals and assisted five in his 26 games this season and his absence was keenly felt during this poor run of form
This weekend Leeds take on Brentford and there has been a clamour from fans to see him reinstated to the first-team outright at Elland Road.
Paul Heckingbottom, after seeing his impact against Derby on Wednesday, would be a brave man to keep him on the bench again this afternoon.
