Speaking on the Official Leeds United Podcast, Liam Cooper has been discussing some of the changes that have happened at Leeds since Jesse Marsch took over.
Marsch has been in charge at Leeds for seven months now, and it’s fair to say that he’s raised the levels within this squad in a few areas.
Cooper seems to be enjoying life under the American, showering the gaffer and his coaching team with praise, and he highlighted set-pieces as one area Leeds have improved in under Marsch.

Cooper spoke about the team’s improvement from set plays.
“Jacko is doing a lot with the set-plays, we have a set-piece group which we have improved massively on both as an attacking threat and defensively. I think we’ve improved a lot on that so that seems to be going well right now. We have personal development plans that we work on with Cameron Toshack – he’s been brilliant. Jesse loves a video session too, we’ve had plenty of those,” Cooper said.

As a lower to mid-table team, every victory counts and so many games will be decided by the odd moment of luck or brilliance.
Set-pieces are great chances to score and frightening opportunities to defend, so if you get those right, you give yourself a massive head start.
The numbers show that Leeds are in fact better from set-plays under Marsch than they were under Bielsa, and if they continue to get this right, they shouldn’t need to worry about another relegation battle this term.
