Leeds United defender Liam Cooper praises his teammate Pontus Jansson.
Jansson recently made a post on Instagram in which he admitted that Leeds’s form over the past few weeks have not been great.
The 26-year-old Sweden international centre-back also admitted that his own performances have not been up to standards.
Cooper, who can operate as a centre-back or a left-back, has given his take on Jansson’s critical comments.
“Pontus is an experienced player, he’s a great lad and good around the dressing room,” Cooper told The Yorkshire Evening Post.
“He’s an honest kid and if he thinks he’s not been up to it then he will let people know. I think it’s good for the squad.”
Jansson is one of the best centre-backs in the Championship and remains an important player of the team.
Although the Swede’s performances in recent weeks have been disappointing, the quality that he has will shine eventually.
The central defender cost Leeds £3.5 million in transfer fees – as reported by The Yorkshire Evening Post – when they make his loan deal from Torino permanent in the summer of 2017.
Cooper, 26, joined Leeds from Chesterfield in 2014 for a transfer fee reported by The Star to be worth £750,000.
