Leeds United captain Liam Cooper has taken to Instagram to deliver some positive injury news – the Scotland international is back in training, after four months on the sidelines. Leeds face Wolves on Friday evening.

Cooper, 30, picked up a hamstring injury in the same game in which Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford also suffered long-term issues. But Bamford started on Sunday, and Phillips has also been spotted back in training.

Now, left-footed centre-back Cooper is back in training and while Friday might come too soon for the ex-Chesterfield and Hull defender – it is a huge boost for Jesse Marsch. Leeds have been defensively shaky at the back.

Cooper took to Instagram on Wednesday evening to inform Leeds fans that he was back on the grass following his long-term hamstring problem. He posted a four-word verdict on his story, which will delight Leeds fans.

Cooper update: Star gives Whites another tool in relegation scrap

What Cooper has, that perhaps Robin Koch, Pascal Struijk and Diego Llorente lack, is that ability to put his body on the line for Leeds. In the midst of a relegation scrap, sometimes utter bravery gets you over the line.

Cooper is that in abundance. He is not as good technically as the aforementioned three, but he is better in the air. His aggression, passion, effect in the changing room and desire is a massive boost for Leeds.
