Liam Cooper may have had his criticism at Leeds United, but last night proved just how important the centre-back is to Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Cooper hobbled off in the early stages of their match against Swansea yesterday, and his absence from the pitch made it much harder for Leeds to defend.

Oliver McBurnie overpowered the Leeds’ defence after Cooper went off, which looked rather makeshift.

Leeds still managed to pick up a credible 2-2 draw against Swansea, but it may be time for the Elland Road crowd to give Cooper the credit he deserves.

The centre-back has been a key player for Leeds’ last three managers and has developed into a fine Championship defender.

Cooper is now vital to Leeds, and looks set to be important for the entirety of the season.

And some Leeds fans, who have been fierce critics of the defender at times, will surely have to admit that Cooper is vital to their chances this term.
