Liam Cooper admits that Leeds United fans have been let down by the players.

Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has admitted to Leeds Live that the players have let down the fans.

The West Yorkshire outfit have endured yet another disappointing season and could finish in the bottom half of the league table.

The Whites were in the running for the Championship playoffs in the opening months of the season.

Leeds central defender Cooper – who cost the Whites £500,000 in transfer fees when they signed him from Chesterfield in the summer of 2014 according to The Express – has admitted that the players have left down the fans, and the 26-year-old is determined to win against Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road in the Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Cooper told Leeds Live regarding winning against QPR this afternoon: “Yes, definitely. The fans themselves know they’re very important, very important part of the club and we know that as well.

“We feel like we’ve let them down to an extent and we’ve got to be much better and I’m sure we will be.”

Hope and optimism

It has been a truly frustration season for Leeds, and the Elland Road faithful must be bitterly disappointed.

The Whites’ supporters, though, should be confident and optimistic about next season, especially if the club make some good signings in the summer transfer window.

Leeds have been in the Championship for far too long, and there has to be some of a revolution like it happened at Wolverhampton Wanderers in order to get promoted to the Premier League.
