Liam Cooper has admitted that he can’t believe that he has signed a new contract with Leeds United and is set to be at the club for another five years.
Leeds signed Cooper in 2014 from Chesterfield, and if he sees through his recently signed contract, then it’ll mean that the 28-year-old will end up representing the club for ten years.
For these past two seasons, Cooper has grown as a player and there is a big reason why he is now the captain of the Championship club.
With five more years added to Cooper’s contract, he will be hoping that during that period he can guide the club to promotion, as he stated that he would have ‘laughed at you’ if you told him five years ago that he could potentially be at the club for a 10-year period.
“Unbelievable,” Cooper told LUFC. “If someone had said five years ago that I would have been here for ten I would have laughed at you.
“It is what it is. I am absolutely buzzing and I can’t believe I have to stay with you [Dallas] for another five years. To be fair, I had heard a lot about you when you came [to Leeds]. He comes and he strikes it off.”

Leeds United’s defence hasn’t been too much of a problem under Marcelo Bielsa, but their inability to punish their opponents when they have them on the back foot.
At this moment in time, they have started off the new season in a healthy fashion, but it seems as though the real test will come during the second half of the campaign.
Nonetheless, Leeds supporters will no doubt be pleased that they have secured the services of Cooper, who has joined Dallas and Kalvin Phillips in penning down a new deal in recent days.
