Hugo Diaz has made just one Championship appearance for Leeds United and it appers that he’s not part of Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.

Hugo Diaz has taken to Twitter to confirm that he will be leaving Leeds United this summer.

One of many young players who have arrived at Elland Road during Victor Orta’s spell as the club’s director of football, Diaz was snapped up from Deportivo La Coruna in the summer of 2017 in the hope that he would become a crucial first-team player in West Yorkshire.

In the last two years, however, the gifted midfielder has played just one Championship game, coming off the bench during a 3-1 defeat to Preston North End during Paul Heckingbottom’s ill-fated spell in charge.

Heckingbottom’s successor Marcelo Bielsa did not appear to see Diaz as part of his plans with the 22-year-old only included in one of the Argentine’s matchday squads, despite some excellent performances for the U23s.

And Diaz has now seemingly confirmed that his short-lived Leeds career has come to an end with first-team regulars Liam Cooper and Luke Ayling bidding farewell.

Whether Leeds have made the right decision letting the 22-year-old go, only time will tell. Diaz really stood out at times for The Whites at U23 level and fans would surely like to know whether the midfielder himself pushed for the move due to his lack of game time for the senior side.
