Leeds United do not play again until the weekend as they look to get back to winning ways in the Championship.

Liam Cooper has admitted to LUTV that the Leeds squad are disappointed that they will have to wait a week before getting back out on the pitch following their defeat at the weekend.

The Whites suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Stoke on Saturday on a day where Marcelo Bielsa’s side simply could not conjure up that piece of magic when they got themselves into the final third.

Leeds have a chance to put that right when they travel to Rotherham on Saturday. But Cooper conceded that the players would have loved a midweek fixture to get themselves back on track earlier.

“The lads are a bit gutted there’s no game Tuesday, especially after getting beat,” he told LUTV. “We’re going to have to wait all week, but we’ll be raring to go Saturday and hopefully we can get a positive result.”

What is perhaps significant about Cooper’s comments is that he made no mention of the squad being grateful for the break between fixtures.

One of the usual comments made about Bielsa’s teams is that they tend to tire as the campaign continues and then fall away in the latter stages. And some may have wondered whether Leeds were starting to experience that having lost three of their last four league games.

But Cooper’s comments are certainly encouraging and hint that Leeds’ players are not becoming vulnerable. And with the captain suggesting that the side are raring to go, clearly none of the squad are feeling another other than excitement about the promotion race in the Championship.
