Rangers teenager Liam Burt has told The Scottish Sun that Mark Warburton wants him to stay in the club’s Under-20 side before stepping back up to the first team.
Burt, 17, was originally on the books with Old Firm rivals Celtic before making the move across Glasgow to join Rangers in 2014, where he has been rising through the ranks.

The talented playmaker has been tipped to have a huge future at Ibrox, having made 20 appearances for Scotland at various youth levels – and even at 17, he’s in the Scotland Under-20 squad.
As one of Rangers’ most exciting talents, Burt made two appearances for the Rangers first team last season, but the arrival of summer signings has pushed him down the pecking order this term.
Joey Barton, Niko Kranjcar, Jordan Rossiter and Josh Windass all arrived to boost Mark Warburton’s options in midfield, meaning Burt has yet to be seen so far this season.

Given his age, Burt still has plenty of time to establish himself as a vital player for Rangers, and has been discussing his pre-season conversation with manager Warburton.
Speaking to The Scottish Sun, Burt revealed that during pre-season, Warburton told him it would be better for him to be playing in the Rangers youth sides, where he can impress and develop as a key player.
Burt added that he wants to get back into Warburton’s plans, and watches games to analyse Rangers’ more experienced players in action to learn from them.

“This season has been going well in the Under-20s,” said Burt. “Hopefully during the course of the season I can impress the gaffer, and try to get back into the first-team squad here.
“I did pre-season with the first team, and the gaffer told me it was better if I played for the Under-20s, and try to be one of the main players for them. Hopefully I can do well doing that, and get back into his plans.”
“I’ve been away a lot with Rangers Under-20s, and Scotland as well, so hopefully I can keep doing well. You can see the experience the manager has brought in for this season. A couple of times we will watch analysis from their games. Then we’ll go along to take in their game and just learn from it,” he added.
