Leeds United are currently in sixth place in the Championship table.
Liam Bridcutt has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he is convinced Leeds United are play off contenders this season.
Leeds are currently in sixth place in the Championship table, after a wonderful run of form has pushed them up the standings.
The Whites have won nine of their last 12 matches to move into promotion contention.
And Bridcutt, who has made the play offs before while representing Brighton & Hove Albion, believes that if Leeds can remain consistent they will hold on to their place in the top six.
“Without a doubt,” Bridcutt said, when asked if Leeds were promotion contenders.
“The big thing from now to the end of the season is consistency. If we keep doing what we’ve been doing and picking up points then yes, 100 per cent we can be up there.
“It’s going to be difficult, we all know that. We’re not under illusions and we know this league can turn around as quickly as we pick up points. But we all have the mentality that we’re fighting for the top six. We know it’s going to be difficult but everyone’s ready for that opportunity.”
Bridcutt has been absent with injury for much of the period when Leeds have hit form.
The central midfielder began the season as key part of Garry Monk’s starting line-up, but there are now question marks of whether he will be a guaranteed starter.
Bridcutt is slowly making it back to full fitness, but he faces a fight to win his place back in Leeds’ team, such is the quality in the squad at Elland Road.
Leeds are next in action at the weekend, when they take on table topping Newcastle United.
