Leeds United edged out the Royals at Elland Road on Tuesday night.
Liam Bridcutt has admitted to The Yorkshire Evening Post that it was a “shock” for him to play so long in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Reading.
The 27-year-old midfielder replaced Chris Wood – who opened the scoring – on 33 minutes for what was his first appearance in precisely three months.
Given the length of his absence, manager Garry Monk will not have wanted to throw him into the mix so soon but the summer signing from Sunderland came through it.

And the Scotland international admitted that he did not expect to be thrown into the deep end, but says it felt good to be back in the thick of things at Elland Road.
“It was a bit of a shock,” Bridcutt said to The YEP. “I’d only trained for five days with the team. It wasn’t the plan to get me back in so quick but it feels good.”

Souleymane Doukara added a late penalty as Leeds wrapped up the points and move fifth in the Championship in the process.
Monk is not spoiled for central midfield options now but he has a selection dilemma for Saturday’s visit of Brentford.
