Sunderland midfielder Liam Bridcutt is now playing for Leeds United, where he has impressed.

Leeds United midfielder Liam Bridcutt has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that he has no regrets about moving to Sunderland back in 2014.

Bridcutt left Brighton & Hove Albion to join the Black Cats three years ago, but he never made much of an impression at the Stadium of Light.

The central-midfielder failed to hold down a starting place at Sunderland, with his career faltering on Wearside.

A move to Leeds seems to have rejuvenated Bridcutt, who has become a key player for the Elland Road club.

But the 27-year-old insists that he has no regrets over deciding to move to Sunderland, despite the switch not working out as he hoped.

“Not really. For me, it was an opportunity to play Premier League football so it was a decision I made and hopefully it was the right decision,” Bridcutt said, when asked whether he regretted his move to Sunderland.

“It gave me experience to go and play in the Premier League and otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been where I am now.”

Bridcutt is now playing a key role for Leeds, as Garry Monk’s side aim to get promoted this season.

The combative midfielder has nailed down his place in the Whites’ starting line-up, and looks set to start again this weekend.

Leeds take on Bridcutt’s former club, Brighton, in their next match and a win would help consolidate their play in the play offs.
