The Scotland midfielder is hoping to lead Leeds to Premier League football.
Aston Villa’s Leandro Bacuna in action with Leeds’ Liam Bridcutt
Leeds United captain Liam Bridcutt has been discussing his time at Sunderland, insisting he felt he did enough to be a regular at the Stadium of Light.
The Scotland international joined Leeds permanently in the summer after a successful loan spell at the club last season.
He was signed by his former Brighton manager Gus Poyet at the Stadium of Light but when the Uruguayan got the sack Bridcutt soon found himself dropping out of the first-team on Wearside.
Speaking to the Chronicle he made it clear that he felt he did well in the Premier League games he featured for Sunderland:
“I think that the spell that I did have in the Premier League, in the games that I did play I think I did well.
“But I wasn’t getting the opportunities to play. Everyone who knows me knows that I always want to play at the highest level and be at the top of my game
“I am always striving to get better and the only way I’m going to do that is to get back into the Premier League.”

The midfield enforcer is of course now hoping to get back to the Premier League with Leeds United. After an injury struck first half of the campaign he has become an integral member of the Leeds first-team since December.
If he can keep up his current form, and help Leeds United to a Premier League return, then he will get the chance to thrive in the Premier League again.
On top of that, Leeds might even be swapping places with Sunderland in the summer.
