Arsenal legend Liam Brady has suggested his old side need to cash in at the start of next season if they want to have any chance of winning the league.
Arsenal legend Liam Brady has been quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times suggesting the Gunners fans could be in for a very exciting season next year.
Arsenal secured their second FA Cup in as many seasons, with a 4-0 victory over Aston Villa at the weekend and Brady feels there is now a real opportunity if the club can prolong the good form they have shown in recent weeks.
“You have to consistently get results (to win the Premier League) and I’m afraid the 12 points Chelsea got in front of us happened at the very start of the league,” he said.
“If you look at the results since the turn of the year, if they can replicate that at the start of the season I think we’re in for a very exciting time.”
If Arsenal are going to seriously challenge for the Premier League title then they will have to overcome a number of things.
The team have to start well during pre-season after a summer break because the momentum the club have created will vanish as players and staff head off for summer breaks.
The focus needs to be sharp when everyone returns for pre-season and the manager needs to make sure that everyone is on the same page and ready to move forward and start well.
It’s also important that Wenger makes the right additions in the transfer market because the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City and several others are all going to improve their squads.
If Wenger can give himself extra strength in depth and cover in key positions, Arsenal will be able to cope during the periods where some key players are unavailable.
Arsenal have a good chance of winning the league next season, but they must make the right calls over the summer.
