Celtic have signed up Lewis Morgan from St. Mirren, and he will join them before the end of this season.

Lewis Morgan’s desire to break straight into Celtic’s first-team will surely be music to Brendan Rodgers’ ears.

Morgan joined Celtic from St. Mirren in the January transfer window, but he was immediately loaned back to the Saints.

Morgan has continued to impress at St. Mirren, but he has one eye on breaking into Celtic’s starting line-up as soon as possible.

Morgan could have had an extended summer, as St. Mirren’s season ends a month before Celtic’s.

But the youngster insists that he wants to go and train with the Bhoys and then he intends to have a limited break over the summer, to make sure he is ready to go next term.

“All going well the season finishes earlier for us at St Mirren so I can get in training before the end of the season and be assessed before I go away,” Morgan said to the Scotsman.

“Of course it’s a step up so I know I’m going to have to work hard over the summer to make sure I’m at the levels I want to be when I go in.

“But I think it’s important to give myself a wee bit of downtime too. I’ll maybe not give myself as much of that as I would have before.

“I’m going in to embrace it all, hopefully I can work hard over the summer and I go in and hit the ground running.”

Morgan will join a Celtic side which has a midfield packed with options, so his task of breaking through will be tough.

Morgan has impressed in the Scottish Championship this term, where he has scored 10 goals in 27 appearances, but he is making a big step up to represent Celtic.

The Bhoys are currently leading the way in the Scottish Premiership, as they look to claim their seventh title in succession.
