Celtic target Lewis Morgan has been praised by St Mirren boss Jack Ross.
St Mirren manager Jack Ross has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks playmaker Lewis Morgan is coping well with the attention surrounding him and his future.
Morgan, 21, was in the youth ranks of Rangers before leaving in 2014, heading to St Mirren in search of first-team football – and it’s a move that has paid dividends.
After notching 10 goals in 46 games for St Mirren last season, Morgan has kicked on again this term, with his record this season standing at 10 goals in 22 appearances.
The problem for St Mirren is that Morgan’s contract comes to an end next summer, meaning he will be able to pen a pre-contract agreement with another club in January.
St Mirren could cash in during the January transfer window, but given their aspirations of promotion to the top flight, they may demand that is loaned back if sold in the upcoming transfer window.
Morgan may be staying in Scotland though, given that the Daily Mail reported last week that the midfielder had been invited to watch Celtic in the Champions League against Anderlecht, and was spotted in the stands at Celtic Park.
Many now believe that Celtic may swoop to sign Morgan in January before loaning him back to St Mirren for the rest of the season, though there is additional interest from clubs in England too.
Now, St Mirren boss Jack Ross has told The Scottish Sun that he is impressed with how Morgan has coped with the speculation surrounding his future, and believes that his change in mindset will help him moving forward – whoever his next club may be.
“He has strengthened his mindset in a number of ways over the past year,” said Ross. “He has coped very well with the attention around him. That has raised expectations of his performance level and he has just got to learn to deal with that, but it will help him wherever he goes,” he added.
