It was back in January that Celtic agreed to sign Lewis Morgan, and fans are still waiting for his first start.
Morgan’s only joined up with the Celtic team in the summer, and he has been out with an injury.
Over the past fortnight, he has been ramping up his involvement with the first team.
Morgan now has three first team appearances for Celtic, each as a substitute, totalling just 62 minutes of football.
Celtic’s start to the season has been a difficult one. Expectation is high, and results haven’t matched.
More established players like Scott Sinclair are under performing, and so far nobody is stepping up.
Morgan now looks ready to play his part. If not this weekend against Aberdeen, it won’t be far off.
While it could be foolhardy to place all their hope in a 21-year-old who is untested at the highest level, Celtic must give him opportunities.
Morgan scored 18 goals for St Mirren last season and provided 13 assists.
That is the sort of talent Brendan Rodgers must let thrive.
Celtic need inspiration, and after getting his feet wet as a substitute in recent games, it’s soon time to put Morgan in at the deep end.
