Surely Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers regret the decision to release Lewis Morgan five years ago.
Former Rangers prospect Lewis Morgan took his tally for the season to 15 goals with a brace in Tuesday night’s 5-0 demolition of Dumbarton.
The 21-year-old winger, who joined Celtic in January before being loaned back to St Mirren, opened and completed the scoring in Paisley last night and surely he will have the last laugh after his Rangers snub.
The Gers released Morgan as a 16-year-old but the young attacker has since been on a mission to prove the Ibrox side were wrong, which he has already achieved to some extent.
By scoring a brace on Tuesday, Morgan now has 15 goals in all competitions – 13 of which came in the Championship – and eight assists.
Even if it’s in the second tier, those on the blue half of the Old Firm divide must know that a mistake was made five years ago in letting the youngster leave and a glittering first season at Parkhead next term would well and truly compound Rangers’ mistake.
And few would back against him to hit the ground running at Celtic.
Morgan, who doesn’t turn 22 until September, certainly seems to have plenty of confidence in his own ability and this time next year it’s very possible that he will make that decision by Rangers look far more questionable than it already does.
