Hamburg midfielder Lewis Holtby has told the Daily Express that he thinks Moussa Dembele could leave Celtic at the end of the season.

Celtic beat Motherwell 2-0 on Saturday afternoon, with Scott Sinclair opening the scoring before striker Dembele continued his sensational start to life in Glasgow with the second goal.

French hitman Dembele, 20, joined Celtic from Fulham after his contract at Craven Cottage expired, and whilst the Bhoys had to pay a modest compensation fee, he’s looking like a real bargain.

Dembele has hit 13 goals in 18 games for Celtic, giving viable competition for Leigh Griffiths, who smashed 40 goals for Celtic last season.

The problem for Celtic is that Dembele is so highly-rated, his exploits in front of goal appear to be triggering major transfer interest; Get French Football News report that Barcelona and Real Madrid are both tracking the youngster, whilst The Sun note that Arsenal are scouting him too.

Ultimately, Dembele will eventually play at a higher level, and whilst Celtic fans will be simply enjoying watching him play in the famous green and white hoops, some are already discussing his future.

Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby played alongside Dembele at Fulham in 2014, and has been speaking to the Daily Express about the striker potentially leaving Celtic.

Holtby discussed how he knew Dembele was special when he first saw him at Fulham, and believes that this could be his one and only season with Celtic as he hinted at a 2017 move for the forward, before confidently predicting a ‘great career’ for Dembele.

“In Dembele, Celtic have a real threat as he proved against Manchester City,” said Holtby. “I played with Moussa at Fulham and he’s a big talent. A lot of good things have been said about him and it’s all justified. I knew the first time I saw him he was a bit special. He was very young at Fulham when I was there, maybe only 18. But you could see his power even back then. He’s so strong and has an eye for goal. He can bury chances. He’s proved that already by scoring goals against City.”

“I really believe this could be his last season at Celtic if he keeps scoring goals. Everything is rocketing for Moussa right now. He’s scoring for Celtic and France’s Under-21 team. He has a great manager in Brendan Rodgers, who knows how to keep young players determined and Moussa’s got that. He’ll go on to have a great career, there’s no doubt about that,” he added.
