Lewis Grabban comments on Aston Villa’s promotion quest

Lewis Grabban joined Aston Villa on loan from Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

Bournemouth-owned attacker Lewis Grabban has suggested to The Birmingham Mail an advantage Aston Villa have over their rivals in their promotion push.

Grabban, who can operate as a forward or as a winger, joined Championship club Villa on loan from Premier League side Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

The 30-year-old, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Sunderland, scored in the Villans’ 4-2 victory over Sheffield Wednesday away from home in the Championship at the weekend.

The former Crystal Palace and Millwall attacker has outlined an advantage Steve Bruce’s side have in their quest to get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Grabban told The Birmingham Mail: “There’s a certain type of squad that gets promotion.

“Generally, it’s usually ones who have got a bit of experience and talent. If you look at our squad nearly everyone has played in the Premier League.

“Some have played there for almost all of their career. The squad is capable of getting promotion.”

Encouraging comments

Grabban is a very experienced player who has won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League twice – with Norwich City and Bournemouth.

Villa have a very strong squad, and given their performances and results over the past few months, one should not be surprised if the Villans end up in the top two of the Championship at the end of the season.
