They are expected to be busy this summer, with new manager Ronald Koeman offered big funds to transform the squad he will inherit from Roberto Martinez.
Indeed, according to the Mirror, they are targeting the duo as they seek to bring in a young defender to freshen up their defensive ranks.
But which player should they target? We decided to take a look at how the two compared in the Championship last season.
Michael Keane of Burnley applauds fans at the end of the game
| Position | Team | Won Tackle per Game | Interception Won per Game | Duel Won per Game | Aerial Won per Game | Ball Recoveries per Game | Goals Conceded | Error Lead To Goal | Passing Accuracy | Appearances | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lewis Dunk | DF | Brighton | 1.44 | 3 | 5.77 | 3.44 | 8.03 | 33 | 2 | 77% | 39 |
| Michael Keane | DF | Burnley | 0.64 | 2.3 | 4.75 | 3.5 | 5.39 | 34 | 1 | 79% | 44 |
And it transpires that Dunk was the better of the two as managed a narrow victory, coming out on top in five of the eight areas we looked at.
On a per game basis, Dunk came out on top when it came to tackles won, interceptions won, defensive duels won and ball recoveries.

However, Keane managed to win slightly more aerial duels than the Brighton man, while he also committed fewer errors leading to goals and enjoyed a better passing success.
Dunk arguably came out on top in the main area though, as his side conceded one fewer goal across the campaign as he came out on top overall. It now remains to be seen if Everton consider him the better of the two.
