Bournemouth’s Premier League midfielder Lewis Cook is reportedly a target for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Frank Lampard’s Chelsea.

Lewis Cook is paying no attention to speculation linking him with Liverpool and Chelsea, telling the Daily Echo that he is not planning on walking away from Bournemouth any time soon.

The Mail reported over the weekend that two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs were interested in signing the dynamic midfielder, who has impressed on his return to The Cherries’ first team after missing the best part of a year with a serious injury.

Cook, who joined Eddie Howe’s side in a £7 million deal from Leeds United three years ago, has been tipped for the very top ever since he burst onto the scene in West Yorkshire and even made his England debut in 2018 before injuries curtailed his progress.

But should Cook prove his fitness over the next few months, he will be a man in demand with Liverpool and Chelsea both on the lookout for a player who has the tenacity, technical ability and composure every top midfielder needs.

Though the former England youth captain hardly sounds like a man angling for a move right now.

“I just forget about it (the speculation) really,” Cook says.

“You’ve just got to focus on your football here and keep enjoying it. I am obviously enjoying playing football again – that’s all I am focusing on right now.

“I am enjoying my football here, it’s a great place to be and play great football.”

This is easier said than done of course and it seems unlikely that Cook will have the same flippant attitude should Liverpool or Chelsea firm up their interest next year. The chance to play under Jurgen Klopp or Frank Lampard and potentially compete for trophies is the stuff of dreams for any young player after all.
