Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has praised Leeds United loanee Lewis Bate by saying he is one of the best players he has ever worked with.
Bate has always been renowned as one of the most gifted young players in England, even before he left Chelsea to join Leeds for £1.5 million (The Daily Mail) in 2021.
Even Brenden Aaronson raved about the 20-year-old, touching on how it was “exciting” to see him in and amongst the first-team.
This season, Jesse Marsch’s Leeds side decided to send Lewis Bate on loan in order to ensure the wonderkid continues developing.
Unfortunately for Bate, he has been in and out of the Oxford United starting line-up.
In the ongoing campaign, the silky midfielder has started 12 out of 25 matches in League One.
With Karl Robinson and Co. being in 14th place in the table, Bate has struggled to cement his place in the side.
However, the manager has no doubt that the technician is a special talent.

“He’s [Lewis Bate] is one of the best I’ve worked with, and I mean that.”
“The problem is, we’ve [Oxford United] got him so young, we’ll be watching him in three or four years’ time running games at the top level, I’m sure of that.”

Considering Karl Robinson coached incredible young players like Dele Alli and Patrick Bamford at MK Dons, the fact that he feels Lewis Bate is right up there is extremely complimentary.
Ultimately, the Elland Road faithful should be rubbing their hands as it seems as if Bate could become a real top player in the near future.
