Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa has raved about Lewis Bate, as quoted in Leeds Live.

Bielsa has spoken highly of the former Chelsea midfielder’s quality and has outlined his attributes.

The Leeds boss has said that the 18-year-old is very good on the ball and can make wonderful passes.

Leeds Live quotes Bielsa as saying about Bate: “He’s a player who performs better every time in the games he’s a part of.

“He’s a player that is constantly managing the ball and he doesn’t lose it very often. And he’s got a good sense of a pass, he can thread it through the needle.”

First-team debut beckons?

Bate joined Leeds from Chelsea in the summer of 2021.

The 18-year-old has been playing for the Leeds Under-23 and Under-21 side so far this season.

Bate is a central midfielder, but as Bielsa points, he can be creative as well.

Now, Bate is only 18 and has been at Leeds for only a few weeks.

It is unlikely that Bielsa will use the teenager regularly in the first team, but there is a chance that midfielder could make his debut for Leeds soon.

After all, Charlie Cresswell has made his Premier League debut for Leeds already this season.

If Bate continues to work hard, progress, and impress at the Under-23 level, then in the coming months, he could find themselves turning out for the senior side.
