Perennial loanee switches Leeds United for Reading.
Lewis Baker has left his loan spell at Leeds United and signed a deal until the end of the season at Reading.
Baker’s spell at Leeds was underwhelming, having arrived with high hopes that manager Marcelo Bielsa could unlock his potential.
The Chelsea owned talent’s decision on the face of it seems peculiar, swapping a team in first in the Championship, for the 23rd.
Baker insists it was a simple choice, based on the notion he simply wants to play regularly.
He told Reading’s official website: “It’s the right time for me to come here, to get as much game time as possible.
“I think that’s what I need at the moment.
“If anyone knows me personally and knows how much I love football they know I just want to play.”
Baker will have his first training session at Reading this morning and hopes to earn a spot in the team to face Nottingham Forest this weekend.
He is reunited at Reading with his former Chelsea youth teammate John Swift.
The midfielder started only two Championship games for Leeds in the first half of the season, and he was substituted on both occasions at half-time.
