Leeds United were beaten 4-3 by Oxford United, in what was a concerning performance from Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Lewis Baker has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that Marcelo Bielsa was calm at half-time during Leeds United’s friendly against Oxford United last night.

Leeds went into the break 3-0 down against the League One opponents, after putting in a disastrous display.

Although Leeds had a number of youngsters out, Baker was one of the first-team players to feature.

And he helped Leeds get back into the match during the second half.

The Whites were much improved after Bielsa had spoke to them in the dressing room at half-time, and managed to come out of the contest with some credit.

Leeds ended up losing the game 4-3, with Baker getting on the scoresheet as his new side nearly pulled off an unlikely comeback.

And Baker said: “He just said we needed to get involved more in the physical battles and not let them have so much of the ball. Intensity is what we were lacking.”

Baker looks likely to start in Leeds’ first competitive match of the season, which is now on the horizon.

Leeds are due to take on Stoke City next Sunday, as they look to get their competitive campaign off to a good start.
