Lewie Coyle comments on Leeds United return

Lewie Coyle joined Fleetwood Town on a season-long loan deal from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Lewie Coyle has told The Yorkshire Evening Post that he plans to return to Leeds United when his loan spell at Fleetwood Town ends.

Coyle left Championship club Leeds on a season-long loan deal for Fleetwood in League One in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old defender did so only after signing a new three-year contract with the Whites, as reported by BBC Sport.

The youngster, who can operate as a right-back or as a right-winger, has said that he plans to use his spell at Fleetwood well and impress Leeds head coach Thomas Christiansen.

“The aim for me is to help Fleetwood go up this season but also to play well enough to go back to Leeds and put myself in the shop window for the manager there,” Coyle told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I’m a very ambitious person and I don’t like settling for second best but I’m realistic as well. I know I have to play and I know I have to do well (at Fleetwood). I’ve got to show that I’m good enough.”

Coyle is a very talented and promising young full-back, but Leeds are well covered in the right-back department.

Luke Ayling has established himself as the first-choice right-back under Christiansen this season, while Gaetano Berardi can also play there.

It is going to be tough for Coyle to break into the Leeds starting lineup when he returns to Elland Road next summer, but it is encouraging to see that the youngster is determined to continue his career at the West Yorkshire outfit.
