The Tottenham Hotspur target has impressed for Crystal Palace this season.

According to a report from the Telegraph, Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy may be reluctant to fork out for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha following his decision to represent the Ivory Coast rather than England.
It is claimed the Spurs supremo may not want to sign a player who could be unavailable for six weeks during the bi-annual Africa Cup of Nations.
However the fact that he signed Victor Wanyama for £11million from Southampton just last summer somewhat hinders that argument.
Tottenham may have spent considerably less on the midfielder than it will take to secure Zaha, while Wanyama’s Kenya did not qualify for the 2017 tournament, but the prospect of a prolonged absence for the former Saints man is always there, and his presence for the rest of the campaign far outweighs any issues around a brief absence.

The same applies for Zaha, with Tottenham needing additional width, and although there are far better options out there than the £30million-plus-rated 24-year-old, the argument that Levy would only want a player available all year round does not hold water when Wanyama is thrown into the mix.
It remains to be seen what Tottenham will do in the upcoming transfer market, but as they continue to fight for this season’s Premier League, it is clear that with the right additions they could be a force to be reckoned with both domestically and in Europe for years to come.
