Speaking on the Ornstein & Chapman Podcast, David Ornstein has shared how Daniel Levy is approaching appointing the next Tottenham Hotspur manager.

The chairman has a massive job on his hands when it comes to replacing Jose Mourinho, and Spurs have been linked with everyone from Scott Parker to Brendan Rodgers.

Who the next Tottenham manager will be remains to be seen, but Ornstein says one thing is for sure, Levy will be doing his homework and being very careful with this appointment.

“Levy will be incredibly diligent with this appointment. We speak to people who have always explained to us how careful he is with signings and squad contract decisions, and it doesn’t always go right, but he will be going through this meticulously, statistically and doing his work to make sure this is the right appointment,” Ornstein said.

This is great to hear, but it could also lead to a couple of problems.

Doing your homework makes sense when making a decision this big. However, taking your time could see you miss out on targets.

There are a few big clubs in Europe currently looking for a new gaffer, while others, such as Andrea Pirlo at Juventus, are seemingly in danger of losing their jobs.

If Spurs take too long drawing up this list, they could easily lose out on some of their key targets. After all, they’ve already lost out on Julian Nagelsmann after it was confirmed that he’s going to be joining Bayern Munich next season.

Fingers crossed Levy gets it right when deciding who will be the next Tottenham manager.
