Speaking on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast, Alasdair Gold has been discussing the rumours around Qatar Sports Investments buying a potential stake in Tottenham Hotspur.
Rumours have been rampant about Qatari investment in Spurs over the past fortnight, and Gold has now shared what he’s heard on the matter.
The journalist says that Daniel Levy has in fact discussed a potential partial sale of Spurs to QSI on two occasions. Once in the highly-publicised meeting last week, and another time over Christmas when Daniel Levy supposedly had a secret trip over to Qatar to discuss this potential investment.
Gold says that Spurs deny this – but, as we all know, clubs are usually in the business of underplaying these matters.

Levy may have gone to Qatar
Gold shared what he knows about this situation.
“Daniel Levy and Nasser Al-Khelaifi are good friends and have been for a long time. PSG and Spurs have done loads of deals in the past. They’re both involved in the ECA, and apparently when they’re in the same city they meet up,” Gold said.
“That’s the side of the relationship that can’t be denied. I understand that Levy was in Qatar for an ECA meeting in early December, while there are also suggestions he was in Qatar again over the festive period. From what I understand the meeting last week was the second time the subject of potential investment has been broached, Spurs deny this,” Gold said.
May be advanced
If Levy has been speaking to QSI for more than a month now about this potential investment, this deal could be more advanced than we are being led to believe.
Takeovers or minority sales don’t move quickly, but this could be a deal that is further down the pipeline than we necessarily realise.
The fact that Levy and Al-Khelaifi are good friends suggests that this investment could actually be on the cards.
Keep an eye on this one, because this could end up being one of the biggest stories of 2023.
