Joe Cole has stated that ‘Daniel Levy has to look at himself’ in regards to where Tottenham currently are and the recent decisions he has made, as he told the All to Play for Podcast.

The former England player added that Spurs made two ‘wrong’ calls in, first of all, hiring Nuno Espirito Santo and then sacking because they didn’t back him when he was here.

Nuno lasted ten Premier League games in North London, before he was fired and ten is probably how far down the list he was of Levy and Fabio Paratici’s list when they were looking to bring in a new coach in the summer.

In truth, it shouldn’t be a surprise how Nuno’s reign ended up because of how the club went about bringing him in.

But despite all of that, Cole thinks that this current Spurs team simply isn’t good enough to secure Champions League football and one man needs to look at himself in the mirror.

“The way that Nuno come in and got sacked,” said Cole. “The fact that they brought him in and got rid of him, on both ends of the thing, it was wrong because he wasn’t backed.

“For me, Tottenham haven’t won anything for a long, long time. They have got a lovely stadium, lovely training ground and they have the England captain. They have some fantastic players.

“But you have to look at who is the common denominator over that and it’s Daniel Levy. He is the one hiring and firing.

“He apparently, from what we understand, brings the players in, so the group of players their aren’t good enough to compete with the top four, at the moment. That’s no doubt. Daniel Levy has to look at himself.”

Tottenham have probably taken a few more steps back since Jose Mourinho’s sacking, but it’s now probably worth it because of how many steps they can take forward under Antonio Conte.

The Italian is proven at every club he has stepped foot into, including winning trophies at each and every one of them.

But, just like Mourinho, he will be hoping that his trophy run doesn’t end on the doorsteps of the London club.

One key area Conte needs to sort out is his star man up top, Harry Kane, and whether he will still be at the club, come January, because it’s pretty obvious what went on in the summer.
