Fabio Paratici is clearly doing a wonderful job at Tottenham Hotspur.

Not only was the Italian instrumental in convincing Antonio Conte [Romano] to come aboard last November, but the former Juventus transfer guru has overseen an excellent recruitment drive in North London this summer.

So far.

The transfer window is barely open and Tottenham have already signed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma for a combined £25 million.

But if Paratici could turn the clock back, he probably would’ve kept hold of one player sold by Daniel Levy.

That decision by Levy has arguably made the Spurs mans’ job that bit harder this summer.

The Lilywhites will be signing more players between now and September, including a right wing-back and a central defender.

And 12 months ago, Levy let go of a player who can play in both roles – Juan Foyth.

Tottenham sold the Argentina international to Villarreal for £13 million and had to watch on with gritted teeth last season as the young defender helped Unai Emery’s outfit to the semi-final of the Champions League.

The Spanish side signed him on loan two years ago, ahead of Jose Mourinho’s first full season in North London.

And Levy should have never given Villarreal the option to sign him permanently after that loan expired, not least for a paltry £13 million.

Foyth was never a world-beater at Tottenham under Mauricio Pochettino, but he had shown a lot of potential and a man-manager of Conte’s talents could’ve really worked with him.

If the Italian can get Matt Doherty playing like he was prior to his injury last season, he could’ve and would’ve got a sweet tune out of Foyth, too.

Spurs will sign a right wing-back and a centre-back this summer. In Foyth, they had both already.
