Paulo Dybala accidentally ripped open some old wounds for Tottenham Hotspur fans this afternoon.
The Argentine striker helped Juventus to a comfortable 4-1 win over local rivals Torino, opening the scoring after only three minutes – and what a way to kick off the clash.
Dybala, who was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham last summer, danced his way through the visitors’ defence, before casually clipping the ball over goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu.
It was another example of what he could’ve brought to a Spurs side who have been enduring a horrendous season.
The North Londoners lost 3-1 away at Sheffield United earlier this week and are now 10 points adrift of the Champions League qualification spots, sitting ninth in the Premier League table.
This season could and probably would’ve been very different had they signed the 26-year-old – especially given that Harry Kane has missed much of the campaign – and the South American himself confirmed in June that negotiations did in fact happen last year [CNN].
Here’s how Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to his goal on Saturday:
