Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on social media have been reacting after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admitted that he almost signed for Tottenham.
Aubameyang told Sky Sports’ YouTube channel that he almost joined Tottenham.
“I was close to signing for Tottenham, but I don’t know what they did, so now I’d retire for sure. It was when I was at Saint-Etienne. I came here I went to the stadium as well at White Hart Lane, but the day later they never called back, so I was like ‘ok, no worries’,” Aubameyang said.
Tottenham rejected Aubameyang, refusing to call him back after his trip to White Hart Lane, and while the Gabonese forward is a very talented player, Spurs fans seem to be happy that he never joined the club.
The £56m Arsenal ace is a former Golden Boot winner, so we have to imagine he’d have been a bit of an asset for Spurs, but, of course, Tottenham fans are never going to admit that about the Arsenal captain.
It’s largely due to the rivalry between the two clubs, but Spurs fans are seemingly happy that they never signed Aubameyang, and here’s what they’ve been saying on social media…
