Fabrizio Romano has told the Last Word on Spurs (35 minutes) that Leon Bailey is loved by both Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Bayer Leverkusen winger has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs recently, with Sport1 saying that the North London side were watching the winger throughout last season.

And Romano feels that there is a real possibility that Bailey does join Tottenham, although his price-tag is an issue.

“The name targeted is Leon Bailey, Jose Mourinho likes him so much,” Romano explained.

“Tottenham were following and I would keep this name as a possibility.

“But the real problem is that is that Bayer Leverkusen don’t need money, they sold Havertz to Chelsea and Volland to Monaco.

“If you want to take Bailey from Leverkusen you have to pay a big fee or around 50 to 60 million euros [£53 million].

“But, for sure, the player is appreciated by Mourinho and by the board, so he’s a possibility, but we need to wait.”

Bailey would be an exciting addition to Tottenham’s team, and add further pace to their forward line.

Spurs already have Heung-Min Son, Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura who can play out wide and are lightening quick.

But Bailey may be even more rapid than the aforementioned trio and he would offer serious competition for places.

With Tottenham competing in a number of different competitions this season their squad depth will be tested, and Mourinho seems to be wanting to bolster his squad to ensure that Spurs can compete on all fronts.

Bailey scored seven goals last term in the Bundesliga, which shows how dangerous he can be at his best.

And if Tottenham were to complete the transfer he would surely be a welcome addition in North London.
