Manuel Pellegrini has sanctioned a loan move for West Ham United’s Edimilson Fernandes to join Fiorentina.

Getting rid of Edimilson Fernandes may turn out to be a risky transfer decision for West Ham United now.
West Ham have agreed to loan Fernandes to Fiorentina until the end of the season, with the Italian club having to option to turn the deal permanent.
The transfer, when it was first speculated, appeared to be one that few West Ham fans disagreed with.
However, after the Hammers’ worrying open day performance against Liverpool, letting Fernandes go may just be an error.
West Ham were crying out for a defensive shield against Liverpool, as they were cut open time and time again.

Declan Rice struggled in his new defensive midfield position, and Jack Wilshere and Mark Noble similarly failed to provide much protection.
Fernandes may have had his critics at West Ham, but he is defensively able and certainly more mobile than any of the aforementioned trio.
Fernandes also had an ability to cover right across the midfield, or at full-back, and although letting the youngster go initially seemed the right move, it may have just turned into a bit of a gamble for Manuel Pellegrini now.
