Steve Bruce is already under pressure, and he could receive further criticism from Aston Villa fans if Andre Green impresses out on loan.

Under pressure manager Steve Bruce may be making another error at Aston Villa, if he lets Andre Green leave on loan.

The Birmingham Mail claim that Villa are set to allow Green to join Portsmouth on a temporary basis, but the move seems ill advised.

Bruce has come under fire from Villa fans for not giving their best prospects much of a chance, and to let Green go could prove to be an error.

Even though Villa have brought in Yannick Bolasie and Anwar El Ghazi recently, their options out wide are hardly plentiful.

And Green could have proved a useful option for Villa this term.

The youngster has shown flashes of genuine quality, and looks capable of performing in the Championship.

By loaning him to League One, Villa are helping Green get some regular game-time, but he may have benefitted from sticking around more.

Green could have a case to be a more effective option than Albert Adomah right now, given the more experienced winger’s poor form.

And Bruce could get hit with further criticism, if Green does go on to impress at Portsmouth on loan.
