Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Iago Herrerin has admitted that he could leave the La Liga outfit before Monday’s transfer deadline, with West Ham United and Crystal Palace linked, when speaking to AS.
While Everton appear to have bowed out of the race for the 32-year-old’s signature, with Carlo Ancelotti refusing to give up on Jordan Pickford just yet, there are two Premier League rivals vying for pole position.
Basque publication Deia reported earlier this month that Herrerin is a target for London neighbours West Ham and Crystal Palace.
The long-serving shot-stopper is determined to secure a move away from the San Mames and has even handed in a transfer request (Marca).
Athletic, for what it’s worth, have no interest in turning this into a messy divorce. Coach Gaizka Garitano has already confirmed that Herrerin is free to go (Desmarque).
Quite literally it seems. Athletic, as a goodwill gesture, are willing to terminate the final year of Herrerin’s contract (AS).

“There are several clubs that have been interested. Let’s see what will happen,” said a man who has grown frustrated with life on the bench in the Basque country.
“We study all the offers.”
Herrerin did not discuss a potential move to Selhurst Park or the London Stadium, but he did suggest that Turkey could be his destination.
The Spaniard confirmed that Besiktas are interested, adding that his representative is also holding talks with a Galatasaray side who finished a humiliating sixth in the Super Lig last term.
