
Tottenham Hotspur fans’ confidence has just increased as Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has claimed that Zack Steffen will start in the League Cup final, as per his comments to the Manchester Evening News.
Tottenham were expecting to face Ederson, but it seems that Guardiola will keep faith with his number two goalkeeper in the showcase occasion.
While Spurs still go into the tie as underdogs, the news has encouraged supporters of the North London side that all is not lost ahead of Sunday’s clash at Wembley.
Tottenham have already beaten City once this season, although that was when both sides were in rather different form.
Spurs actually begun the campaign well, while City have taken a while to click into gear.
Guardiola’s side have done so now though and Tottenham’s task of beating them will be very tough, even with Steffen in net.
It is true that the American will be playing the biggest match of his career so far at the weekend though, and it will be interesting to see how he reacts in such a pressurised situation.
