Arsenal regular Gabriel has expressed his delight on Instagram after Leeds United’s Raphinha was called up by Brazil.
The Leeds United winger posted on his IG that it’s ‘always an honour to be able to defend our country’.
Arsenal defender Gabriel simply posted this message to his fellow countryman: “Let’s goooooo’ following that news.
Only a few games remain, before the two-week winter break kicks in and some players leave for national duty.
Brazil have World Cup qualifying matches against Ecuador and Paraguay to contend with and Raphinha is starting to become a key player for his country, despite only making his debut in 2020.
Just like Gabriel at Arsenal, who has also been called up after outstanding performances in north London, Raphinha is also being rewarded for his goalscoring magic.
The 25-year-old has scored eight Premier League goals this season and that for a team struggling near the bottom.
What’s even more impressive about the trickster’s displays is that it’s been without the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford for large periods.
Someone like Phillips is the glue in midfield and someone who allows Marcelo Bielsa’s all-action and non-stop machine to run smoothly.
Whilst Bamford, who has been out injured longer, is the steam train up top that adds that extra bite and goalscoring prowess alongside Raphinha’s spice.
Leeds have been very unlucky that so many key players have been out because, added with the improvements Raphinha has made, they would have been much higher if they were able to combine all of that together.
