Giovani Lo Celso posted on Instagram ‘let’s go for another 90 minutes’ after the Tottenham loanee helped Villarreal beat Bayern Munich 1-0 in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The 25-year-old was named the Man of the Match, as Unai Emery’s side caused a first-leg upset by gaining the upper hand in their quarter-final tie against the German champions.
After the game, Lo Celso posted the following message on Instagram, with several players, including some of his Spurs teammates, such as Sergio Reguilon, congratulating him on his efforts.
“They say faith moves mountains,” said Lo Celso. “Great effort from the whole team. Nothing is said. Let’s go for another 90 minutes.”
Arnaut Danjuma, who was trying to help Bournemouth get out of England’s second-tier last season, was the one who netted the only goal of the game after eight minutes.
From playing against Barnsley to pitting his talents against Bayern Munich, it has been some turnaround for the Dutch winger during these past 12 months.
But he isn’t the only one thriving under Emery’s stewardship because Lo Celso has also been doing bits since his loan move in January.
It just didn’t work out for the Argentine on English soil, whether it be under Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Ryan Mason, Nuno Espirito Santo or Antonio Conte.
That’s a lot of coaches, but he now seems to have found a form in Spain and with the Europa League champions.
But Lo Celso isn’t the only ex-Tottenham man working his magic with the Yellow Submarines because Juan Foyth played at right-back yesterday, Serge Aurier replaced him after 81 minutes, with Etienne Capoue partnering Lo Celso in the middle of the park.
All in all, it will be interesting what happens with Lo Celso at the end of the season because it wouldn’t be a surprise if his time in north London is up.
