Sven Botman is finally a Newcastle United player and he becomes Eddie Howe’s third signing of the 2022 summer transfer window.
Newcastle have paid Lille £35 million for the 22-year-old (Sky Sports) and he has penned a five-year contract with the Saudi-owned club.

When Botman’s transfer was confirmed, he took to Instagram to post that he is ‘happy to be part of the Magpies family’.
And in the comments section, the likes of Renato Sanches, Jose Fonte, Amadou Onana and Jonathan Ikone reacted to his transfer.
Former Bayern Munich midfielder Sanches wished him ‘good luck’, whilst ex-Southampton and West Ham defender Fonte added by saying, ‘All the best my brother’.
Another one of Botman’s Lille teammates, Onana, added ‘I love to see that smile’, whilst Fiorentina striker, Ikone, told him ‘let’s go, my brother’.
NEWCASTLE MAKING MOVES
That was the third new face to arrive at St James’ Park this summer and you can bet your bottom dollar more are to come.
The Magpies are starting to make moves during the transfer market, including in January, which played a huge part in their survival in the Premier League.
But who is going to be next for Newcastle? There was a lot of talk about another player joining from Ligue 1, in French striker Hugo Ekitike, but that has seemingly fallen on its head.
As a result, there is talk that Newcastle are now going to turn their attention to Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak, who is also a Sweden international.
Another player for the future and one that could transform into a superstar if he hops onto Newcastle’s ever-progressing ship.
