Leeds captain Liam Cooper has sent a fantastic message to Marcus Rashford on Twitter, in which he reveals the squad stands with the Manchester United striker’s fight against child food poverty.
Cooper’s tweet states that the Leeds squad will be donating £25,000 to support the cause. He wrote: ‘Let’s do this Leeds! No children should ever go hungry. £25k guaranteed from the @lufc squad. We stand with you @MarcusRashford.’
It is heartwarming to see two players from bitter rivals coming together to tackle such a terrible situation.
Cooper’s tweet came after Leeds council revealed that they would be ensuring no desperate child in the area goes hungry over the school break, in what is a simply fantastic gesture sparked by Rashford’s campaign.
The England international – who Spotrac say earns £200,000-a-week at Old Trafford – has become a national hero after his campaign to end child poverty.

Rashford was even awarded an MBE for his efforts towards the cause.
While the Government recently voted against supplying free school meals over the break, communities have come together to help those in need.

Cooper’s tweet also comes following the Elland Road faithful’s decision to boycott the pay-per-view game against Aston Villa on Friday, and instead donated the money to food banks, as the Evening Express reported.
What a lovely touch.
While Manchester United and Leeds are bitter enemies, it’s pleasing to see a player from each side contribute to the cause.
